Emile was a widower with one living son (Arthur Theodore Dooms) at the time of their marriage8. Pennola Dooms was born to the newlyweds about 19119. The blended family lived in Baker, Crawford, Kansas in 19209. On February 11, 1922, at the age of 44, Emile Dooms passed away, leaving Myrtle to raise her daughter and stepson7.

The 1930 census shows that Myrtle has married her boarder, John McCullough and the couple has moved with Pennola to Aguilar, Las Animas, Colorado15. Myrtle and John spent little time in Colorado as they reported living in Chanute, Neosho, Kansas in 1935 on the 1940 census16.
John died in 1958 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute, Neosho, Kansas17. Myrtle died in 1975 and is buried next to John18.
