James Ward

James Ward is the second child of Mary McGlothlin and George Washington Ward born March 10, 1959 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri1.  After the death of their mother, Mary, James and older brother, David, traveled with their father back to Johnson County, Kentucky.  On the 1860 Census, the boys were living with their grandparents in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky2.  In 1870 their father, George Washington Ward, has joined boys living with their grandmother in Toms Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky3.  James was working as a farmhand in Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa in 18804.

David McGlothlin Ward

David McGlothlin Ward was born September 25, 1855, in Johnson County, Kentucky to Mary McGlothlin and George Washington Ward1.  David and his younger brother James are found living with their grandparents in Johnson County, Kentucky on the 1860 census2.  In 1870 David and James are living with their father, George W., their grandmother, Lucinda, and probably a cousin, Lucinda Gillum in Toms Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky3.  In 1880 David is found single, working as a laborer, living as a boarder in Louisa, Kentucky4.

Mary McGlothlin

Mary McGlothlin is the first child of Jemima and David McGlothlin, and the first grandchild of William and Rebecca.  She was born about 1838 in Tazewell County, Virginia.  Mary travelled with her parents and extended family to Jackson County, Missouri.  After her mother died, Mary moved back to Johnson County, Kentucky with her father and siblings.
