I didn't mean to be secretive about the new "Friend of the Corel Cousins." His name is Stan Grout and he and his wife bought the property that Silas Silver Whiteford and his wife Mary Eva McGlothlin Whiteford owned in Miami County, KS.

The "Whiteford" cemetery is right across the street from Stan's property. Stan is a fireman and a historian!

Stan e-mailed me about a year ago as a result of a posting I put on one of the Rootsweb message boards. He wanted to know if I knew anything about this family. I had researched them early on, and I scanned all the material I had collected and e-mailed them to Stan.
Just recently I needed to ask him a question, and you know how one thing leads to another ... and it is though Stan that I now have talked twice to a fellow named Bob McConchie who lives in Missouri and is a direct descendant of Mary Eva McGlothlin Whiteford. And Stan was able to find a wonderful portrait of our new Cousin Bob's mother in the 1933 Ossawatomie High School yearbook -- and he sent it to both Bob and me.

I told Stan I had posted Silas and his second wife, Hattie, on www.findagrave.com. Stan took a look at that website and is now going to post all the Whitefords who are buried in the cemetery on Findagrave, just one more way for cousins to find us.

So this contact was a "twofer" -- a Friend and a Cousin both. And of course I've invited both to look at the Corel Cousin webpage and to keep the possibility of attending our next reunion in their mind.

I also got an e-mail today from Virginia and Tom McGee who just put some answers to my Douglas County property and land questions in the mail.

Paula, I know your little counter doesn't show how many times each day I go onto the webpage. I'm fascinated with what and how you are doing it. And I'm getting a real kick out of the blog. It's the highlight of my day!

If we didn't tease Mom, she may forget how much we love her! :)

And Teresa, just by being married to and the mother of my cousins, makes you a cousin, too! In fact, one of my favorite cousins, who is currently in Afghanistan and I pray for his safe return to his young family, is related by marriage only, but I love him none the less! Michelle, my sister, even freaks out at the thought that Abby could marry his son. They aren't related by blood, but it's still way too much for poor Michelle! :)

Perhaps this Richard Brown is the cousin that Stan found. I know that Stan is researching the Whiteford's after purchasing their property some time back.

I am just so very excited to know that we are finding new cousins. I wonder if we will ever be to the point where we have contact with all lines and we can have all of us together at a reunion?

This would be all living descendants of my 4th great grandparents! It is nearly impossible to get all descendants of my great grandparents together!

Mom, don't you know that with this 'immortalized' in cyberspace that when I get close to that point, Abby will be able to pull this page up and say "See, Grammy said you would be like this!" LOL For her sake, you must agree that Michelle has as much of a chance at senility as I do! ;)

Yes, MOM does take alot of ribbing.
But, one can take especially when one dishes out as well!!
Just remember Paula, you'll be old one of these days...and then will you have senility??
We are unlucky to have it from both sides of the grandparents!!
Teresa, you married into the family, you are family!! WELCOME!!
We do not discriminate against those marrying into the family.
Sometimes the "outlaws" are better family than the "inlaws".
Love to all.

Poor mom - you sure take ribbing

And just a tiny correction while I would love to be your cousin it is my husband and children that are related to your wonderful family.

Finally You noted a cousin through Mary E. She and Silas married in Douglas County, KS and in my notes I have Richard Brown as working on this line as well.
